MOSS are looking for a Senior Technician to join the team! MOSS are recruiting for an outstanding candidate who is either highly experienced in On-Site Machining as a Senior Technician or has the capability to advance efficiently though MOSS’ Training and Competency system to develop into this role.
Location: Home Based - Preference North West England
Main tasks:
- Set up and accurately position portable milling machines, boring bars, flange facers, drilling equipment and other on-site machining equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and machining specifications.
- Perform on-site machining operations to required tolerances.
- Monitor machine and tool performance during operation to maintain accuracy.
- Inspect pre-machined and completed work using inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
- Assess potential scopes of work, to prepare equipment and manufacture any necessary modifications.
- Perform pro-active maintenance and breakdown-repairs of portable machines.
- To ensure equipment is returned to the workshop, in a cleaned and inspected condition.
- Maintain accurate records of machining operations, measurements, MOSS documentation, and daily progress reports.
- Travel to customers sites throughout the UK and overseas, which may at times involve extended periods of time away from home.
- Support and assist the workshop as and when required.
Key responsibilities:
- Be pro-active while undertaking any operational requirements ensuring compliance with MOSS policies and procedures.
- Willingness to extend skillset in other areas such as Bolt Tensioning, Composite Repairs, Quickflange Installation and Leak Sealing when required.
- Work in conjunction with the company’s quality systems and statutory obligations.
Candidate Requirements:
- Mechanical Apprenticeship
- Experienced mechanical background
- Mechanical workshop experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the safe operation of both portable (on-site) machines and workshop static machines.
- Ability to work using own initiative (with minimal supervision)
- Good communication skills
- Well organised and methodical
- Personable, confident, well presented, extremely professional and in possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK
