QHSE Advisor
Main purpose of the job:
The objective of this role is to ensure that the commitments within the HSEQ Policy Statements are met and compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, legal and other requirements are achieved by regularly monitoring the performance. Enabling the organisation to maintain its legally compliant status with an engaged workforce while supporting the Operations and Contracts Mangers
Assist with the maintenance, monitoring and continual improvement and development of the HSEQ Management System and associated documents.
This is a hands-on position that requires an impartial, highly motivated, self-starter coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills facing the workforce and management.
Main responsibilities:
- Managing active achievement of business KPI’s and Objectives for the Andidrain sites.
- Actively drive a positive safety culture within the business.
- Assisting with the maintenance and management of QHSE / IMS systems.
- Carry out internal audits, supplier audits and worksite inspections as per schedules.
- Compliance of legislation, ensuring that all HSE aspects of the business are conducted in accordance with all relevant legislation, requirements, and processes.
- Participate in external / 3rd party audits.
- Drive initiatives (Safety Leadership Audits, Observation Reporting etc).
- Ensure TBT’s, working practice briefs, weekly inspections, forklift checks etc are carried out.
- Produce safety alerts and role out safety themes.
- Implement general environmental requirements.
- Provide QHSE support to all levels / departments within the business to promote a safe, healthy workplace.
- Carry out risk assessments and method statements for all work processes and prepare Safe Systems of Work.
- Produce COSHH assessments when required.
- Raise awareness of QHSE through the creation and delivery of training, toolbox talks and briefings within the business, to develop a suitable and sufficient behavioural safety approach for both depot and site operations.
- Compile monthly statistics and QHSE report.
- In respect of accidents and incidents, to manage their progress, carrying out thorough impartial, investigations, identify root cause, best preventative / corrective measures and communicating results, ensuring actions are completed and closed out in a timely manner.
- Contactable out with office working hours in the event of QHSE emergencies.
- Manage customer and supplier assessment procedures, ensuring timely completion ensuring and up to date data is obtained.
QHSE Obligations
- Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 you have the responsibility to take care for the health and safety for both yourself and any other persons who may be affected by any acts or omissions at work.
- Co-operate with Company policies and procedures as deemed necessary to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with.
Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Desirable)
- Recognised Internal Auditor Qual (Desirable)

Technical Skills:

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Previous workplace experience (waste management, industrial cleaning may be an advantage)

Plus other duties as may be reasonably required of you by the Chairman or Board of the Company. You should be aware that you may be called upon, from time to time, to act in a capacity outside your normal duties, e.g. in cases of absence, sickness or holidays of other members of staff.

- Report hazards and defects observed in the workplace and ensure PPE provided to you is suitable and fit for purpose.
- Report any injuries, strains or illnesses you suffer as a result of doing your job.
- If you drive or operate machinery, you have a responsibility to advise Management if you take medication that makes you drowsy.
